What we do

Customs officers are involved in a number of activities aimed at:

  • facilitating legitimate trade and travel while ensuring compliance
  • controlling and accounting for all imports and exports
  • collecting all revenue due to the State
  • administering specific industry schemes, trade measures, international protocols and other international obligations
  • eradicating smuggling and other transgressions through enforcement action; and
  • enforcing controls on the importation and exportation of prohibited and restricted goods on behalf of other authorities administering such laws.
