Post-Assessment

Post assessment involves the auditing of documents and goods after clearance has taken place. Customs clients are expected to keep all relevant documents for a period of five years for auditing purposes.

The post-assessment stage also involves imposing penalties for certain offences and a dispute resolution/appeals procedure which traders can then follow.

Goods are sometimes placed in temporary storage or in bonded or state warehouses until the post-assessment phase.
