  • 52% said through What’s New on homepage
  • 14% said through navigating to the webpages
  • 4% said through RSS feeds
  • 29% said through search engine

2) We asked taxpayers if checking Tax Compliance Status has been made much easier:

  • 64% agreed
  • 13% said they are not sure
  • 23% disagreed

 3) We asked South Africans if SARS website provides sufficient knowledge about tax. 

  • 42% said always
  • 39% said sometimes
  • 19% said never

 4) We asked Taxpayers how they submitted their tax returns.  This was the response:
  • 70% of respondents indicated that they used eFiling to submit their returns.
  • 11% stated that their tax practitioner submitted returns on their behalf.
  • 9% of respondents manually submitted at the branch.
  • 5% used the new eFiling mobile apps to do their filing.

  • Register a new car?
  • Get broadband installed?
  • Query your phone bill?
  • File your tax return through eFiling?

3% thought that registering for their water bill was easiest, while 9% thought registering a new car was easier.

8% indicated that getting broadband installed was easier, while 6% said that querying their phone bill was easier.

An overwhelming 73% of South Africans stated that filing their tax returns through eFiling was the easiest of the five.


 6) We asked South Africans that if they had a problem with SARS who would they contact first.

  •  57% said local SARS branch
  • 13% said SARS Service Monitoring Office
  • 10% said Tax Ombud
  • 6% said Public Protector
  • 14% said they never have a problem with SARS

  • 7%  said Japan
  • 46% said South Africa
  • 25% said Sweden
  • 9% said UK
  • 5% said Utopia

  • 39% said municipality account
  • 4% said e-toll
  • 43% said South African Revenue Service (SARS)
  • 15% said retail accounts

 
 10) We asked South Africans which language they prefer for the SARS website.
  • 36% preferred English only
  • 35% preferred English, Afrikaans, isiZulu, Setswana, Tshivenda and Xitsonga
  • 10% preferred the website be in all eleven languages
  • 16% preferred English with translation on request
  • 4% preferred mainly in English with core pages translated

11)  We asked taxpayers about their filing experience in 2015.
  • 33% felt it was very good
  • 19% felt it was good
  • 12% felt it was bad
