13 October 2017 – Cocaine Bust OR Tambo
South African Revenue Service (SARS) Customs officials seized 30kg of cocaine estimated at close to R9-million in two separate incidents at OR Tambo International Airport today.
19 October 2017 – SARS busts heroin, illegal skin cream and clothes worth R20-million
SARS Customs officials and detector dogs intercepted heroin, illegal skin lightening cream and counterfeit clothes with a combined value of over R20-million in three difference incidents at King Shaka International Airport today.

With less than three weeks to go before the employer reconciliation submission deadline on 31 October, SARS will be hosting workshops at selected branches to assist employers who use e@syFile™ Employer to submit their EMP501 to SARS.
19 October 2017 – Almost 12 000 taxpayers assisted on Saturdays
SARS is pleased to announce that almost 12 000 taxpayers have been served to make tax submissions since SARS extended its operating hours to Saturdays at selected branches around the country on 30 September.
Assets of two companies attached over combined R57-million in tax debts
The assets of a logistics company that owed the South African Revenue Service (SARS) R39-million in unpaid taxes have been attached by the sheriff following a civil judgement and writ granted by the Pretoria High Court.

More than R20 billion saved in fraudulent claims. SARS is pleased to announce that it has paid over R120-billion in refunds across all tax types in the last 7 months, that is, from the beginning of April of the tax season to date.

Taxpayers urged to avoid last minute rush. Non-provisional taxpayers have 24 days to file their tax returns before Tax Season officially closes for this category of taxpayers on Friday, 24 November 2017.
