  • 20 September 2022 – Prohibited and Restricted Imports and Exports list

    Tariff headings 3002.49.10 and 3002.49.20 need to be detained for Non-Proliferation Council.

  • 16 September 2022 – Prohibited and Restricted Imports and Exports list

    Tariff headings 2711.13.10 and 2711.29.10 do not require ITAC Import Permit.

  • 8 September 2022 – Prohibited and Restricted Imports and Exports list

    Importation of new or used goods as classified under customs tariff heading 4911.99.90, 4905.90, 4911.91 and 4910.00 is not subject to ITAC import control measures and may therefore be imported without an ITAC import permit.

  • 16 August 2022 – Prohibited and Restricted Imports and Exports list

    The Nuclear Branch of the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has moved to new offices and the telephone numbers have changed. The new telephone numbers are:

    • 012 444 3811 and
    • 012 444 3095.

Tariff heading 4902.10 and 4902.90 is not subjected to an ITAC Import permit.

    Three assignees were removed from the Prohibited and Restricted list as instructed by the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development.

  • 19 January 2022 – Prohibited and Restricted Imports and Exports list

    Tariff heading 3006.93 needs to be detained for Port Health.

  • 8 October 2021 – Prohibited and Restricted Imports and Exports list
    Amendment made to Tariff heading 1806.90, now needs to be detained for Port Health Officer.
  • 25 August 2021 – Prohibited and Restricted Imports and Exports list.

    Tariff heading 0505.90.90 now requires a Veterinary Import Permit and Veterinary Health Certificate from States Vet.

  • 2 August 2021 – Prohibited and Restricted Imports and Exports list.

    Amendment made to Tariff heading 49.01 – ITAC permit is not required for tariff heading 49.01.

  • 22 July 2021 – An update was made to the Prohibited and Restricted Imports and Exports list. An amendment was made to tariff heading – 0106.49 – now needs to be detained for Plant Inspector. 

  • 31 May 2021 -Amendment made to tariff heading – 2902.30 – Tolune. ITAC import and the export control Regulations and therefore requires an import and an export permit. 
  • 20 April 2021 – Amendments made to tariff headings 1604 and 1605, not for trade without NRCS approval, for both import & export.

  • 4 June 2020 – Assignees appointed in terms of Agricultural Product Standards Act 1990
  • 29 October 2019 – Regulation of Wood Packaging Material in International Trade
    The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) have requested SARS to inform exporters, importers and all other role players involved in the international trading of products involving wood-packaging material, to comply with International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) No. 15.
