FAQ: What is the purpose of the CSK test?

The purpose of the Sufficient Knowledge Test is to establish whether a person involved in certain activities or operating certain premises regulated by the CCA has sufficient knowledge of customs laws, guides, interpretive notes, operational manuals and practices to enable that person to comply with all legislative requirements applicable to that activity or premises. Breaches of customs legislation can lead to the imposition of administrative penalties or in more serious cases, criminal prosecution. The CSK serves a mutually beneficial purpose to Customs and our clients, namely to increase the level of compliance and to assist clients to become familiarised with the new legislation.
