SARS Digital platform upgrades on 23 to 25 January 2026

21 January 2026 – Achieving our Vision of a smart, modern SARS with unquestionable integrity that is trusted and admired is of paramount importance. Pivotal to the delivery of our vision are our digital platforms and technology infrastructure. To provide clarity and certainty, make it easy for taxpayers and traders to comply with their obligations and building public trust and confidence, our technology assets must demonstrate the highest levels of availability, robustness and security.

In accordance with our Vision and Strategic Objectives, which includes modernising our systems to provide Digital and Streamlined online services, we are hard at work ensuring that our digital platforms and technology infrastructure are available, robust and secure, by performing regular upgrades, enhancements and maintenance.

Considering the above, the following SARS Digital platform maintenance is scheduled to take place during this coming weekend:

  • Customs Production Fixes Release (Medium Impact)

Customs Production fixes will take place in DPS, RLA and SWP on Friday 23 January 2026 from 18h00 to 23h00.

    • No declarations will be processed during DPS downtime.
    • All submissions will queue and be proceeded once the release is complete.
    • Traders need to submit declarations before the downtime for priority cargo.
    • Manifest submission will not be impacted.
    • Arrival management will not be impacted.
    • Service Manager processing and cases will not be impacted.
    • RLA and SWP will not be available during the change window.
  • Supporting Documents Network Change (Low Impact)

Documentum will move network location on Saturday 24 January 2026 from 20h00 to 22h00.

    • Supporting documents processing will be delayed during the change window.
    • Traders can upload but will experience a delay in attaching to cases and getting CUSRES confirmation that documents are attached to a case.
  • Single Window Portal Operating System Upgrade (Low Impact)

The SWP AIX Operating System will be upgraded on Saturday 24 January 2026 from 20h00 to 23h00.

    • Traders will not be able to access the Single Window Portal.
  • MQ Upgrade (Low Impact)

MQ will be upgraded for compliance and support on Sunday 25 January 2025 from 04h00 to 06h00.

    • EDI processing will be suspended during the MQ server restart to avoid any message failures requiring manual intervention.
