11 May 2016 – Four female Brazilian body packers found with R2.2 million cocaine

Pretoria, 11 May 2016 – SARS Customs officials intercepted four Brazilian women in possession of 8.5kg cocaine estimated at R2 250 000.00 at the Cape Town International Airport on Monday at 11: 40am.
The incident happened when customs officials stopped the women to inspect the hand luggage of the travellers and conduct body searches. Officials found three packages wrapped in brown paper  and plastic on each woman’s body.
The women were taken in for questioning and tests confirmed the white substance to be cocaine.
The four women, one male travelling with them and narcotics were handed over to the South African Police Service for further investigation and they are expected to appear at the Bellville Magistrate Court tomorrow, Thursday, 12 May.
