13 June 2016 – R9-million cocaine bust in untagged bag at OR Tambo

Pretoria, 13 June 2016 – SARS Customs officials and the detector dog unit intercepted 30kg of cocaine valued at R9 million at OR Tambo International this afternoon.

The tagless black bag arrived on a flight from Sao Paolo arousing a lot of suspicious activity around it.

It was immediately detained and found to contain pieces of carbon paper, a green duvet and 30 sealed blocks of white substance testing positive for cocaine.

The consignment has been handed over to the South African Police and the Hawks (Directorate for the Investigation of Priority Crimes) for further investigation.
