With less than three weeks to go before the employer reconciliation submission deadline on 31 October, SARS will be hosting workshops at selected branches to assist employers who use e@syFile™ Employer to submit their EMP501 to SARS.
Please view selected branches at Recon-Workshop-schedule.
Workshops will take place from today, Monday 16 October, to 31 October in Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Western Cape and will include e@syFile™ employer consultations as well as training for employers who require assistance with their EMP501 submissions.
What is the Interim Reconciliation period?
The Employer Interim Reconciliation submission period is open to employers from 15 September and runs to 31 October 2017.
During this period, employers are required to submit an Employer Reconciliation Declaration (EMP501) and Employee Income Tax Certificates [IRP5/IT3 (a) s] for the period between 1 March and 31 August 2017. It must be noted that the interim IRP5/IT3(a)s for the period between 1 March and 31 August 2017 must not be issued to an employee unless it is a final certificate (where the employee has left the service of the employer or the employer ceased to be an employer on or before 31 August 2017).
As the deadline approaches, employers are encouraged to use SARS eFiling (for less than 50 employees) or SARS e@syFile™ Employer for a larger employee base, to submit their interim reconciliations. These platforms allow for quick and easy submission and are available 24 hours. To register, visit www.sarsefiling.gov.za or visit www.sars.gov.za for information.
Avoid penalties for late submissions
To avoid penalties being levied for the late and non-submission of your reconciliation documents, make sure that you submit your declaration not later than the deadline or 31 October 2017.
