19 May 2016 – Man found with gold worth R87 093 in a jam jar

Pretoria, 18 May 2016 – SARS Customs officials busted a Congolese male in possession of 136g of gold worth almost R 100 000 at the Cape Town International Airport yesterday, Tuesday at 5.30pm.
An inspection of the man’s luggage found a suspicious looking bubbling jam jar.
The jar was scanned and gave a positive detection four (4) metal stones that were confirmed to be gold.
The man and gold were handed over to the South African Police Service for further investigation and is expected to appear in Bellville Magistrate court on Thursday, 19 May 2016.
