Pretoria, 22 April 2016 – Heroin with an estimated value of R58 million was confiscated at Lebombo border post on Wednesday evening by SARS Customs officials.
SARS Customs officials stopped an Opel Corsa entering South Africa from Mozambique for a routine check. During the search process Customs officials found 58 plastic bags containing a white substance hidden within the vehicles panels. Each bag contained approximately one kilogram of heroin.
The suspect and the vehicle with the heroin were handed over to the South African Police Service for further investigation.
