31 October 2016 – R5.5-millions busts in two separate incidents

Pretoria, 31 October 2016 – It has been a busy weekend for SARS Customs officials and the detector dog units that intercepted two smuggling attempts in two separate incidents in Durban and Johannesburg over the weekend.
In the first incident SARS Custom officials intercepted a male traveller going to Dubai trying to smuggle R3.9-million at the King Shaka International Airport on Saturday.
The traveller was profiled for a routine check where scanned bags were found with currency of R3 972 400. 00
The man was handed over to the SA Police Service for further investigation.
The second incident in a cargo shipment involved a detector dog that sniffed hair shampoo bottles filled with 6kg cocaine estimated at R1.7-million at OR Tambo International Airport on Saturday.
The shipment was handed over to the SA Police Service for further investigation.
