The South African Revenue Service (SARS) proudly hosted the 91st World Customs Organization (WCO) Policy Commission Meeting in Cape Town. This meeting was a milestone for the global customs community. The highly anticipated gathering brought together customs leaders and experts from around the world to deal with the evolving challenges of international trade and to shape the future of customs practices.

The South African Revenue Service (SARS), led by Commissioner Edward Kieswetter, concluded a transformative two-year tenure as Chairperson of the World Customs Organization (WCO) during the 145th/146th WCO Council Sessions at WCO Headquarters in Brussels. Attended by over 400 representatives from 186 member administrations, which collectively manage 98% of global trade, the sessions marked a pivotal moment for global Customs.

The National Development Plan (NDP) provides the strategic framework to put our economy onto a new growth trajectory with a strong emphasis on lowering the cost of doing business in South Africa, improving our competitiveness and exports, and linking our products with other emerging markets.
