FAQ: After I’ve activated my eFiling profile for MPRR, I received a message ‘Go to your nearest branch to verify your bank details’. Why must I do this? Is there another way to verify my bank details, as I don’t have the time to go to a branch?

When you’ve activated your eFiling profile for MPRR, it checks the details we already have on the system, and if there is a difference in the details, we require you to go to a branch to verify your banking details. It’s a pre-caution to avoid fraud and to protect you as the taxpayer. Please see the supporting documents to take with you to the branch.

If you receive a letter from SARS to verify your banking details – the requestor submitting the supporting documents electronically, must provide an image of himself/ herself holding their proof of identity, as well as a written note containing the case number and the date on which the documents are uploaded to SARS. It is important that the requestor’s face, proof of identity and the note are clearly visible in the same picture.
