The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is pleased to announce that it has collected an amount of R1216.6 billion in the financial year 2017/18.
6 April 2018 – SARS’s stance on the tax treatment of cryptocurrencies
The South African Revenue Service (SARS) will continue to apply normal income tax rules to cryptocurrencies and will expect affected taxpayers to declare cryptocurrency gains or losses as part of their taxable income.

13 April 2018 – Drugs valued at over R30 million bust at OR Tambo this week
South African Revenue Service (SARS) Customs officials at OR Tambo International Airport (ORTIA) this week confiscated 108kg of drugs which were hidden in boxes and declared as ‘calcium carbonate’.
