The South African Revenue Service (SARS) confirms that Mr Johann van Loggerenberg has resigned from SARS with immediate effect. SARS has accepted his resignation and hereby confirms that the parting of ways was amicable and agreed to be in the best interests of SARS.

The R57.68 billion preliminary trade balance surplus for June 2021 is attributable to exports of R166.52 billion and imports of R108.84 billion. Exports increased by R3.27 billion (2.0%) between May and June 2021 and imports decreased by R0.03 billion (0.0%) over the same period.
13 January 2015 – Response to recent media speculation pertaining to internal disciplinary processes faced by some employees
The South African Revenue Service takes note of the article, ‘Pillay fights back’, published in one of the Sunday Newspapers of the 11 January 2015. SARS would like to place on record its serious concern with what appears to be the ‘fighting’ of internal SARS matters through the media without following the proper processes that SARS has in place.

SARS Customs made a massive seizure of suspected counterfeit sneakers to the value of R8,7 million at Lebombo border post early on Monday morning.
23 December 2016 – Tax fraud syndicate member sentenced to 30 years
The last member of a 16-member syndicate that systematically defrauded SARS of approximately R26 million over a period of seven years was sentenced to 30 years imprisonment on Tuesday, 20 December 2016.
