Tax Practitioners contacting the SARS Contact Centre

When phoning the Contact Centre:

Tax Practitioners will be asked to verify details of themselves and of their client/s when phoning the SARS Contact Centre. The SARS Contact Centre will then do a search to confirm the client relationship.

In order for this to be processed successfully, all Tax Practitioner clients must be created and linked to the respective Practitioner on eFiling. The Tax practitioner must have the client registered on the Practitioners eFiling profile or have shared access with the taxpayer for the tax type they need assistance on.

How to create a taxpayer – Tax Practitioner link on eFiling:

  • How to register:
    • Login to eFiling (on Tax Practitioner profile)
    • Click on Organisation
    • Click on Register New
    • Complete the required details
  • How to obtain shared access:
    • Login to eFiling (on Tax Practitioner profile)
    • Click on Organisation
    • Click on Register New
    • Complete the required details
    • System will advise that the taxpayer is already registered and
    • Edit access to obtain “shared access”

Please ensure all your clients have been created and linked on eFiling, if applicable.  The SARS Contact Centre will not be able to assist unless a client relationship can be established.

Remember: As long as the client is registered on the tax practitioner’s eFiling profile or the client has shared access with the Tax Practitioner, a link can be established and the tax practitioner will be assisted. If no link can be established, the Tax practitioner cannot be assisted by the Contact Centre. For information on the new Single Registration process, click here.
