    An important intervention in the illicit trade of abalone (perlemoen) was made by SARS Customs officials at the weekend when a truck with about 600 kilograms of abalone was stopped and detained at the South African-Namibia border

  • Court dismisses Delport – 22 March 2007

  • The Start of Filing Season 2007 – 31 July 2007
    As from tomorrow, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) will start accepting income tax returns from South African taxpayers as 1 August 2007 marks the beginning of our annual Filing Season period.

  • Joint media release: Settlement between SARS and Nampak – 11 December 2007
    Pretoria, 11 December 2007 – In September 2005 the South African Revenue Service (SARS) raised a number of assessments relating to the Malbak group of companies which were acquired by Nampak in 2002. In addition, a number of queries were subsequently raised by SARS regarding the tax affairs of Nampak.

    Pretoria, 21 December 2007 – The arrest yesterday of two individuals who are believed to be part of a broader commercial fraud syndicate will strengthen the commitment by the South African Revenue Service (SARS) to fight all forms of fraud and corruption – inside and outside the organisation.

 

  • South African Trade Statistics for November 2007 – 27 December 2007
    Trade deficit decreases in November 2007 from R14.7 billion to R0.6 billion mainly due to a month-on-month decrease in imports of mineral products and original vehicle equipment components and a month-on-month increase in exports of precious stones and metals, mineral products and vehicles.
