The trade deficit for June 2012 declined by R3.2 billion to R5.7 billion (surplus of R4.9 billion in June 2011) from a deficit of R8.9 billion in May 2012.  Exports decreased by R1.1 billion (1.7%) to R61.7 billion and imports decreased by R4.3 billion (6.0%) to R67.4 billion.

5 July 2012 – Promulgation of Tax Administration ACT 2011

The Tax Administration Bill was promulgated into law yesterday (Act 28 of 2011) in Government Gazette 35491 of 4 July 2012. In terms of section 272 of the Act, the Act will come into operation on a date to be determined by the President by proclamation in the Gazette.

The trade deficit for May 2012 declined to R8.9 billion (Deficit of R1.5 billion in May 2011) compared to a deficit of R9.9 billion in April 2012, a month on month decrease of R1.0 billion.  Exports increased by R10.6 billion (20.4%) to R62.8 billion and imports increased by R9.7 billion (15.6%) to R71.7 billion.
