Why let other people get away with it?

The tax we pay to government is our contribution to South Africa’s welfare. We need it to build roads, schools and hospitals. We need it to ensure our safety and security as citizens of this country. Without it, we must borrow from other countries and institutions such as the IMF on terms that are not necessarily favourable.

Because you know this to be true, you are registered for tax, and you pay your dues on time. People who do not comply with their obligations and evade paying their taxes enjoy the benefits of living and working in a country where your taxes pay for infrastructure and services. Very often, they are the same people who do not observe or abide by other laws in the country and participate in crime.

Do not let Tax cheats get away with it. SARS will make it hard and costly for any taxpayer who wilfully and intentionally seeks to break the law as we expect every taxpayer to meet their obligations and pay their fair share of tax
