If you use an old email address, an auto created mailbox response will be directing you to the new mailbox. When you send an email to the new mailboxes, you will receive an automated reply with a case number assigned. For ease of use, this number will be quoted in related correspondence on the progress of the case.

The email size limit of 10MB must be adhered to. You will be informed by an automated response if your email exceeds the size limit and requested to resubmit. In order for us to promptly deal with your email, you will be requested adhere to the size limit.

To keep everyone safe during the time of COVID-19 we are constantly refining our online offerings. We recommend that you use our Digital Service offerings available on SARS eFiling, SARS MobiApp and the SARS Online Query System, for a simpler and enhanced user experience.

What do I need to include in my postal/emailed correspondence?

  In order for us to deal with your request promptly please include the following when you submit your correspondence:

  • Case number (if available);
  • Your tax reference number;
  • Your full name(s) and surname;
  • Your identity/passport number;
  • The trust number if you are enquiring on behalf of a trust;
  • The company registration number if you are enquiring on behalf of a company;
  • Your practitioner number, if you are a registered tax practitioner;
  • A certified copy of the Power of Attorney/Letter of Authority if you are representing a taxpayer/company/trust/estate;
  • A certified copy of your identity/passport/driving licence if you are representing a taxpayer/company/trust/estate;
  • Your preferred email, postal address or telephone number.

Top Tips:

  • The submission of returns, eFiling queries, new registrations, change of bank details, transfer duty queries and customs queries are not accepted via post, fax and email.
  • Please try to ensure that attachments are in Adobe (PDF) format and not exceeding 10MB.
